Our story began a little over a year ago when the founder Dan Popovic got heavily involved in running. He noticed there didn’t seem to be a platform that one could visit in order to socially connect with events occurring in one’s community or even share calendars with friends or have fun challenging friends to finishing times while also tracking accomplishments and getting rewarded.

So he decided to launch a prototype in 2012 against the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series which he created to support programs vital to the success of the Atlanta BeltLine.  While putting on running events he noticed several challenges, such as raising awareness.  This opened up many other opportunities to create higher levels of awareness and engagement with individuals and family members.

With so much focus on obesity and health outcomes, much of the success has come from creating social connections and allowing individuals to meet others with similar interests, which has led to the framework for cMEcompete.  The goal is to not only reward healthy behaviors but to effectively create connections that lead to everlasting changes.
